VUB alumnus Professor Mustafa Jarrar was included by the MIT Technology Review Arabia in the 2022 list of 30 most important Arab experts in AI. Jarrar studied at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel between 1999 and 2007, where he earned his Master's degree (2000) and PhD (2005) in Computer Science. Currently, he is the director of the PhD program in Computer Science at Birzeit University.
Throughout his career, he has published more than 75 articles. Professor Jarrar is also founder of the Sina Institute for Knowledge Engineering and the Palestinian e-Government Academy.
