The fight against climate change is one of the European Union's (EU) major priorities: by 2050, all member states should be carbon neutral and emit zero net greenhouse gases. But how can the EU realise this enormous ambition? This is what the Brussels School of Governance is researching in a free online lesson series on Europe's climate and energy policy.
The online series of lessons or MOOC is part of the Govtran project, which is coordinated by the Brussels School of Governance and in which the universities of Ghent, Eastern Finland and East Anglia also participate. Govtran stands for Governing the EU's Climate and Energy Transition in Turbulent Times and brings together researchers with expertise in climate and energy policy, European integration and governance research.
The MOOC is accessible as of 21 June and consists of 4 self-paced mdules – meaning you can start it when you want and go at your own speed. Although open to everyone, the free online course is particularly well suited for people with some prior knowledge of EU institutions and policy making. It is perfectly shaped for both students to obtain a comprehensive overview of EU climate and energy governance and energy policy, as well as for professors to use the course materials for their own courses.
