The VUB POINcaré book "Migration, Equality & Racism. 44 Opinions" will be launched online on Thursday 21 january at 20.00. The event will feature striking interviews with the authors, a dance performance by Mouss Sarr, slam poetry by Sakina El Kaddouri and photos by Esma Alouet with Yasmina El Messaoudi as the host.

More than 80 academics and authors from VUB joined forces for this book. Philosophers, lawyers, psychologists, health scientists, sociologists, geographers, criminologists, communication and political scientists look at migration, equality and racism from different disciplinary angles. Through 44 thought-provoking opinion pieces, they challenge widespread views on migration, equality and racism and propose solutions that can be disruptive. The book is available in English and Dutch.

"Migration, Equality & Racism. 44 Opinions" is the work of the think tank POINcaré of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in collaboration with the interdisciplinary research group BRIMM. The book was created under the direction of Ilke Adam, Tundé Adefioye, Serena D'Aghostino, Nick Scheurmans and Florian Trauner. POINcaré was founded in 2016 by rector Caroline Pauwels to provide answers to social problems from various research fields. The think tank is named after the French mathematician and philosopher of science Henri Poincaré (1854-1912), who among other things described the principle of free research, which continues to inspire the university's scientific and social project today.
