VUB-researcher in biomedical sciences Yana Dekempeneer, affiliated with SCK-CEN, the research center for peaceful applications of radioactivity in Mol, is investigating new, more effective methods to treat breast cancer. 



Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, current treatments do not always remove all cancer cells or cannot reach cancer cells that are difficult to reach in the body. This leads to dangerous metastases that reduce the chances of recovery.
