This decision only applies to education, not to research or the support provided by administrative departments.

In order to keep all this workable for both students and lecturers, VUB is applying the following principles, which will be put into practice shortly:

  • As far as possible, we will maintain the schedule of the class weeks, both for the supply of class material and the acquisition of skills.
  • We will avoid shifting courses and prolonging the duration of studies. Everyone is important in this, but we will pay particular attention to students in their graduation year as well as to international students and those in their first bachelor year.
  • We will look at the organisation of exams.
  • We will focus as much as possible on finding remote alternatives for practical classes, master’s theses and internships.
  • We will retain the current academic calendar as much as possible.
  • We will guarantee a holiday period for both students and lecturers.

The welfare of everyone is central and, together with all faculties and administrative departments, VUB will do everything in its power to organise itself quickly and provide more concrete information.
